Excerpts from PTI's Health Claim petition

In their soy protein health claim petition to the FDA, PTI claim that their submission is a 'representative and balanced submission that includes unfavorable information as evaluation of the proposed health claim'.  However, the following represents the totality of PTI's 'unfavorable information' on phytoestrogens; see for yourself how utterly inadequate it is.

Excerpts from ASA's submission in support of PTI's Health Claim petition.

Despite making a mockery of PTI's claim that the phytoestrogens in soy protein reduce cholesterol, the American Soybean Association support PTI's claim.  With reference to PTI submission, ASA President Mike Yost also claims that it is 'representative and balanced that includes unfavourable information as well as favorable'.  In reality ASA are guilty of not disclosing the truth to the FDA and US consumers.  Soy Online Service views these claims as utterly dishonest.  For example, ASA submit just one paragraph on the potential risks of isoflavones in which they completely gloss over the adverse effects of these compounds.  Read it for yourself!
